anyway., back to why we think certain races are the best.
we've talked about the ancients potential reasons, so what about the tau're:
They are under a mountain so most threats from the stargate can be contained.
They have substantial mitlitary support covering a small area as long as the gateroom is not breached.
their weapons are effective so long as they have extra ammo.
but they are somewhat lacking in defense technologies.

but make up for it by using Ancient/Asgard/Goa'uld/anything else they get their hands on techology to make up for it

yes but they still have the defense venerability to certain electronic warefare things as well as heat and radiation.
